One Tweet to Solve Most of Your Pickleball Problems

In my recent customer interactions, I’ve noticed that many customers have questions about basic paddle knowledge. Today, I’ll address some of these common questions.

What materials are pickleball paddles made of?

Our pickleball paddles are currently available in four materials: full carbon, Teflon + carbon fiber, carbon fiber, and glass fiber. Among these, our fiberglass, carbon fiber, and carbon fiber + Teflon paddles are cold-pressed, while our all-carbon one-piece paddles are hot-pressed.

What is cold pressing and hot pressing?

Cold pressing and hot pressing are part of the production process. Cold pressing involves bonding with glue, also known as a sandwich paddle. Hot pressing, however, entails baking and shaping through a mold, also known as an integrated paddle. Full carbon represents an all-in-one paddle. We just launched an all-in-one paddle, which is a non-porous version made of all carbon + Teflon.

Let’s talk about cold-pressed paddles.

Among these cold-pressed paddles, Teflon + carbon fiber is the best material, followed by carbon fiber, and glass fiber is the most basic paddle material. The fiberglass material is relatively brittle and may break when hit hard; carbon fiber has high toughness and is less likely to break; the carbon fiber + Teflon paddle includes a layer of Teflon to prevent friction, enhancing control and performance.

What is the difference between an all-in-one paddle and a sandwich paddle?

An all-in-one paddle offering better integrity and suitability for high-end events. It provides a clear ball feel and a clear path. In contrast, a cold-pressed paddle (sandwich paddle) lacks support and has a less distinct ball feel.

The difference between the paddle “K” value and the “T” number

The “T” numbers, such as T700 and T300 in carbon fiber paddles, refer to the strength of the carbon fiber cloth, which determines the strength and stiffness of the paddle. T700 is superior to T300. Additionally, “K” values, like k3, k12, and k18, denote the carbon fiber cloth’s appearance, influencing the paddle’s visual texture.
